Concord, N.H. — U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) has announced her support for the Clean Power Plan, citing its incentives for “clean energy solutions that will protect our environment.” The news came two days after the Clean Power Plan was published in the federal register, triggering fresh attacks in Congress and in the courts on the first-ever carbon pollution limits on power plants, the largest single source of U.S. global warming emissions.

Madeline Page, Global Warming Outreach Director, issued the following statement:

“From devastating ice storms to flooding, climate change is already taking a toll on New Hampshire’s quality of life, and it will only get worse unless we act boldly to cut carbon pollution and begin the transition to 100 percent clean energy. By standing up to polluters and Republican leaders in support of the Clean Power Plan, Sen. Ayotte is siding with small business owners, health professionals, local elected officials and the vast majority of New Hampshire voters who support climate action. This is a great move by the senator.”
